Caring for flowers purchased in a vase or wrapped bouquet
Unwrap your bouquet and place your blooms in a clean vase with water and plant food. Cut the stems ¼ inch at an angel with sharp scissors.
Flowers love a cooler climate—keep your blooms out of direct sunlight, like windowsills, and in a cooler location in your space.
Keep flowers away from drafts and extreme temperatures, like fireplaces which can quickly dry out your blooms and cause wilting
Do not place your arrangement near fresh fruit or in the path of cigarette smoke as it releases ethylene gas which can cause flowers to wilt.
Keep your blooms hydrated! All flower and foliage stems should be submerged in order for them to drink.
If your flowers come in a basket or wooden container add fresh water to the arrangement every day.
Immediately remove dead or wilting flowers and leaves from your arrangement.
Empty your water and replace with fresh water and flower food every 2-4 days depending on the condition of your blooms. Cut the stems a ¼ inch each time you replace the water.
